NOVUS, the degree scheme designed to encourage tomorrow’s supply chain professionals, is a proud recipient of a European Supply Chain Excellence Award – winning in the Training & Professional Development category.
Nick Hewer – Countdown presenter and Lord Sugar’s right-hand man on The Apprentice, presented the award, at last night’s prestigious ceremony at the London Hilton, Park Lane. Andy Kaye and David Leach from NOVUS were joined on stage by students from the University of Huddersfield, where the scheme is operated, and NOVUS sponsors to receive the accolade.
A night to remember
It was a night to remember for NOVUS and true recognition of the scheme created by Andy Kaye, CEO and founder of recruitment and business consultancy BiS Henderson, to address the skills gap in the supply chain and logistics sector.
Logistics & Supply Chain‘s 19th annual European Supply Chain Excellence Awards, in association with PwC, received more entries than ever. They came from some of the world’s leading lights across all sectors. It was also the second year in a row that the four-year sandwich logistics and supply chain degree scheme, which guarantees a job for successful graduates and attracts talent into the sector, was shortlisted.
David Leach the NOVUS Programme Director had this to say
Winning in the Training and Professional Development category is a privilege and a pleasure. NOVUS is all about the industry working together to enhance the professional development of young people and the award is great recognition of the efforts of a fantastic team of volunteers from across the industry. Together we are making a real difference to the development and opportunities available for young people.
Andy Kaye, Chair and founder of the NOVUS Trust added
We are delighted to have received this prestigious award and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this important initiative the success that it is. With over 90 students and 30 sponsoring companies now in the scheme, we believe we have demonstrated how this industry can really pull together to create a sustainable solution to the serious issue of skills shortages in the Supply Chain and Logistics sector.
There are two NOVUS courses: BA (Hons) Business with Supply Chain Management has a greater emphasis on general business management, whereas BSc (Hons) Logistics & Supply Chain Management focuses more on technical and analytical skills applicable to the supply chain. They are both 4-year sandwich courses that are packed with professional development opportunities through work experience, placements, mentoring, guest lectures, site visits and professional qualifications. Courses are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK, the leading independent industry professional body.
