Summary:
At Bis Henderson, we are looking for a Production Planning Manager to work for a small manufacturer of consumer goods. As a Production Planning Manager, you will be ensuring that the business has the best operational working environment and processes. You will be overseeing high-level HR duties, delivering the manufacturing plan as well as ensuring the operation is able to deliver business growth through a performance and safety-led culture. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing production in a manufacturing and distribution environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing, production planning and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
The Production Planning Manager will lead and co-ordinate the daily activities of the manufacturing, production planning and warehousing departments to ensure the efficient running of their operations. They will manage and coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand, quality standards, and delivery expectations. In addition, they will develop and implement production strategies to optimise efficiency, reduce waste and increase profitability.
The Production Planning Manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers, customers, and other departments to ensure adequate stock levels of raw materials are available at a competitive rate. They will oversee the production of both batch and continuous processes, as well as the packaging of products for wholesale distribution.
To ensure long-term success, the Production Planning Manager will create operational plans and ensure their successful implementation. They will also be responsible for maintaining a performance culture, developing the production, manufacturing and warehousing teams.
Key Skills/Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Production Planning Manager position will have proven experience in managing production within a manufacturing and distribution environment. They should have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and warehouse operations. The candidate should have experience in managing both batch and continuous processes and be proficient in using IT management systems, such as WMS/SAGE.
In addition, the Production Planning Manager should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. They should be able to work effectively with various stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and other departments within the organisation. The candidate should also be a strategic thinker, capable of developing and implementing production strategies that optimise efficiency, reduce waste and increase profitability.
