Location: Milton Keynes (with some travel to sites in Derby and Wimbledon)
Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead all aspects of health and safety within an international retail business across their UK sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring sites are safe and compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines, working closely with staff members from all areas and relevant stakeholders. This is a full-time role with core office hours (with flexibility as required).
Key Responsibilities as Health and Safety Manager:
Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and industry best practices, reviewing and updating regularly.
Carry out risk assessments and identify hazards and develop appropriate control measures to mitigate risks.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of sites to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, identifying and reporting any areas of non-compliance, and recommending corrective actions.
Provide training to employees on health and safety policies and procedures, including fire safety, first aid, manual handling, and any other relevant areas.
Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Manage relationships with external health and safety consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring that all reports, licenses, and permits are obtained and maintained.
Create and maintain safety KPI metrics to drive performance.
Key Skills/Experience:
3-5+ years’ proven experience in a similar role.
NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.
Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations, and the ability to apply them in a practical and effective manner.
Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions.
Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
Good IT skills, with experience of using health and safety management systems.
