Assistant Branch Manager – 3PL Logistics

Location: Stanford-le-Hope, Essex (London Gateway)

Salary: £60,000.00 – £65,000.00 + car allowance

Summary:

Ready to take the next step in logistics leadership? We are recruiting an Assistant Branch Manager to support a 155,000 sq ft logistics and cross-dock operation at London Gateway, Stanford-le-Hope. This full-time, permanent opportunity offers the chance to help lead a site with approximately 100 staff across warehouse, transport and operations. Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, you will bring teams together to deliver efficient operations, excellent customer service and continuous improvement, while developing your experience in senior operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Branch Manager and the Transport, Warehouse and Logistics Managers, you will:

• Support the day-to-day running of warehouse, transport and cross-dock operations, ensuring teams work effectively together.
• Lead and motivate operational teams, working with managers and supervisors to plan labour, staffing levels and shift performance.
• Deliver operational KPIs, productivity targets and service levels while maintaining high standards of health and safety and compliance.
• Build effective relationships with customers and internal teams to maintain service quality and resolve operational issues.
• Support branch P&L management, controlling labour costs and operational spend to help meet budget and profitability targets.
• Drive continuous improvement across transport and cross-dock activities and support the Branch Manager in developing operational strategy.

Experience:

You will be an experienced logistics manager who combines practical operational knowledge with strong leadership and commercial awareness. You will bring:

• Proven experience managing large operational teams within logistics or distribution.
• A solid understanding of warehouse, transport and logistics operations, alongside experience using warehouse management systems and operational KPIs.
• Strong organisational, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a 3PL or multi-function logistics operation would be advantageous, as would a professional logistics or transport qualification, such as CILT.
• Knowledge of import/export would be advantageous
