Assistant Branch Manager

Location: Stanford-le-Hope, Essex
Salary: £60,000.00 + car allowance
Summary:
A proactive and driven Assistant Branch Manager is required to support the leadership of our clients 155,000 sq ft logistics and cross-dock operation, employing around 100 staff across warehouse, transport, and operational functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into senior operational leadership within a fast-paced, modern logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support the Branch Manager with the day-to-day running of warehouse and transport operations, including:

• Ensuring smooth operational alignment across Transport, Warehouse, and Logistics teams.
• Managing, motivating, and supporting teams across warehouse, drivers, and operational staff.
• Achieving operational KPIs, productivity goals, and high service levels.
• Upholding high standards of health & safety, compliance, and best practice.
• Working closely with customers and internal teams to maintain performance and service quality.
• Supporting labour planning, shift performance, and staffing requirements.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across transport and cross-dock operations.
• Assisting with management of the branch P&L, labour costs, operations spend, and productivity.
• Helping develop operational strategy and drive performance enhancements.

Experience:
We’re looking for a strong people leader with:

• Proven experience in warehouse and logistics management.
• Experience managing large operational teams within logistics or distribution.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and organisational skills.
• Solid understanding of transport, warehouse, and logistics operations.
• Experience with WMS systems and operational KPIs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience within 3PL environments; logistics/transport qualifications (e.g. CILT); and managing multi-function logistics operations would be desirable
